NW Kansas Counties Lead State In Economic Pull Factor
According to the Kansas Department of Revenue, Northwest Kansas communities are once again economic leaders regarding pull factor, which measures market strength. Ellis County has the highest trade pull factor, followed by Thomas and Ness counties. Pull factors are a measure of the economic strength of a county based on sales tax collections and population. Pull factors of less than 1 suggest local residents are going out of county to make purchases, while higher pull factors show that the county is drawing people in. Ellis County's pull factor is 1.64, the highest in the state. Thomas County has a pull factor of 1.58, while Ness is third with 1.55.

Supporters said Obama’s attempt to require that even religious organizations offer their employees coverage for birth control shows the bill is needed. But opponents said the measure will create lawsuits against policies protecting gays and lesbians from discrimination.
